General

Rectangle Open Core is widely used in distribution transformers, which can be categorized into single-phase, three-phase three-leg and three-phase five-leg cores. This fabrication method combines the low-loss performance of wound cores with the assembly flexibility of laminated cores. It is manufactured from high-quality CRGO steel, cut and formed into a open-loop shape with precision step-lap joints. The core is supplied in an open configuration, allowing the coil to be easily inserted before the core is closed and clamped. This design minimizes air gaps, reduces no-load losses, lowers magnetizing current, and improves operating efficiency, making it ideal for distribution transformers, control transformers, and other high-performance electrical equipment.

Product Features

  1. Higher-quality cores — each lamination is made from BAOSTEEL or SHOUSTEEL (with thicknesses of 0.18 mm, 0.20 mm, 0.23 mm, 0.27 mm, and 0.30 mm and grade of 065, 070, 075, 080, and 085), formed with high precision, with lower NL losses.

  2. Size is flexible: engineers have great flexibility on core section area, window width and window height.

  3. Cost saving: the wound core manufacturing process achieves a material utilization rate of nearly 100% (compared to a 90-95% utilization for stacked core);

  4. Time saving: the wound core offers high assembly efficiency and no additional tool is required to assemble.
